Many students of Photography under expose their images

Don't critique this students image on cropping as I have re cropped so you can not determine who the subject is

The First image is one that I used levels in PS to adjust the exposure of both the highlights and the mid tones
I am pretty sure we can all see a big difference
the original image the exposure was based on the light reflected back from the T shirt
causing the camera to under expose

Remember reflected light metering only works accurately when we are taking pictures of kodak grey cards !!!

Quick way to zoom on Photoshop

"Quick way to zoom on Photoshop"
If you're working on something and need to zoom in on an area to edit or just inspect it, you can hold Ctrl+Spacebar and then click and drag the box over the area you want to zoom in on. This doesn't matter what tool you're in. To zoom all the way back out to full screen, click Ctrl+0 (thats a zero). This has saved me a lot of time editing.

This is on a PC.
And yes, it does work this way in CS5, you have to turn off Scrubby Zoom first.
To do this, click on the Zoom Tool in your Tools Palette a then uncheck Scrubby Zoom in the bar on the top of the window."

another Lightroom tip

In Lightroom 3, when you import your photos (File > Import Photos), you’ll see the large dialog that opens. Of course it’s got a ton of options in it, most of which you don’t need on a daily basis when importing. If you’re like me, you just choose a different folder destination, but everything else usually remains the same.

If that’s the case, you can minimize the dialog to just show you the essentials by clicking that minimize button (downfacing arrow) in the bottom left corner of the dialog.
